Panda Cam Troubleshooting

If you are having trouble viewing the Panda Cam please try the following steps

1. Ensure you have the latest version of Quicktime installed on your computer.
Download Quicktime here
.

2. Try viewing the streams independent of our site
Open your standalone Quicktime player (not the one in the browser). Then select File > Open URL...
Then type in one of the following URLs
http://pandacam.adam.com.au/pandacam1.sdp
http://pandacam.adam.com.au/pandacam2.sdp

3. Check that your Quicktime plugin is working correctly.
Visit http://www.apple.com/quicktime/troubleshooting/. You should see a page like the image below if everything is working properly.

qtTroublshooting

If you can't see the "Quicktime successfully installed" (1) message, try reinstalling Quicktime.
If you can't see the animated logo in the bottom right (2) then it is likely there is a problem with your network and unfortunately we can't help you with that.

4. Try changing your Quicktime Transport Setup
Open your Quicktime Preferences (Control Panel -> Quicktime). Select the Advanced tab. Try setting 'Transport Setup' to custom with the HTTP option. Apply settings, restart your browser and test again.

5. It's dark and I can't see anything!
Well, that's probably because it's night time. Adelaide daylight hours are approximately between 5:50 am and 5:40 pm CST. The clock in the top left corner of the stream tells you what the current Adelaide time is.
Infra red lights will be fitted to the cameras soon which will allow viewing the pandas any time of the day or night.

6. Check that your antivirus software is not blocking the stream.
Some antivirus software, particularly those with 'real-time protection', can prevent the live stream getting through. Temporarily disable your antivirus software and try to view the streams again.

If this works you may need to add exceptions to allow PandaCam to be delivered to you computer. Check your manual or contact your antivirus software provider for details on how to do this.

5. I've tried all of the above but Panda Cam still doesn't work.
Unfortunately the problem is likely to be specific to the setup of your computer and you will need to determine the cause of the problem on your own. We do hope you get it working because it's really good!

Both Cams
written by Jo, April 29, 2010
Hi,

I like to check out the pandas a few times a day. I was under the impression that we could see both panda enclosures at the same time. This is not working. Also why can we no longer comment under each pandas section as we could before?
